Fences that fit Florence AL homes, old and new
If you live in Florence AL, you probably see the same thing we do every week: a brick ranch from the 1960s sitting next to a newer craftsman-style home, then a mid-century farmhouse on a larger lot just down the street. When neighbors in these mixed neighborhoods call Legendary Fence Company Florence AL, it is often because their older wood fence is leaning, the posts are rotted from years of Tennessee River humidity, or a new addition or pool needs a fence that actually matches the style of the house.
Florence has a lot of homes from the 1950s through the 1980s, plus newer subdivisions with smaller backyards. That mix affects how we plan your residential fence installation. On older properties, boundaries are sometimes unclear and yards may not be perfectly level. We take time to walk the property with you, look at existing property markers, and explain where a new fence can go without disturbing older trees, established gardens, or irregular concrete patios that are common around these homes.
For newer homes, especially in planned communities, you may be working with HOA guidelines about height, style, and materials. We are familiar with the typical restrictions in Florence AL neighborhoods, such as limits on front yard fence heights or requirements for open designs around drainage areas. Legendary Fence Company Florence AL helps you choose options that satisfy HOA rules while still giving you privacy, pet security, or a safe space for kids.
From the start, we tailor each project to the age and layout of your home. We check the soil conditions (often a mix of clay and loam in this part of Alabama), look at how rainwater moves across your yard during our frequent summer storms, and recommend post depths and materials that handle both heat and moisture over time. Our goal is a fence that looks like it belongs with your Florence property, instead of something that was just dropped in from a catalog.
Residential fence installation, replacement, and repair in Florence AL
Legendary Fence Company Florence AL focuses on residential fence installation, replacement, and repair that makes sense for the way people actually live here. Many of our customers are updating older homes near established neighborhoods, where an existing fence may be decades old. In those cases, we often start with a residential fence replacement, removing deteriorated wood that has been exposed to years of hot summers and damp winters.
For replacement projects, we carefully take down the old fence, pull out or cut off corroded metal posts, and haul away debris. If an older concrete footing is still solid, we explain whether it can be reused or if it is better to start fresh. Florence’s periodic heavy rains can undermine shallow posts, so our replacements typically include deeper footing and properly compacted backfill to reduce future leaning.
If your fence is mostly in good shape but has storm damage, missing panels, or gate issues, we handle residential fence repairs that match your existing style. In Florence AL, it is common to see one section fail after years of moisture exposure while the rest of the fence is still usable. We replace broken pickets, straighten sections that began to sag after saturated ground softened, and rebuild gates so they swing cleanly and latch securely.
For new residential fence installations, we help you balance privacy with the need for airflow in our humid climate. Around Florence, air movement can make a big difference on summer evenings, so we talk through options like board on board wood fences, semi-private vinyl, or a combination of privacy in the backyard and more open designs on the sides. We plan installations to avoid underground utilities, irrigation systems, and the often irregular property lines that come with older lots.
Whether you have a compact backyard behind a newer home or a wide side yard around a mid-century ranch, we measure carefully, confirm corners, and walk you through gate placement for everyday routines like taking out trash cans, mowing, and letting pets out safely.
Custom, privacy, wood, and vinyl fences that work with Florence AL weather
Custom residential fences are especially useful in Florence AL because of the variety of property layouts. Some homes sit on sloped lots, while others have deep but narrow backyards. Legendary Fence Company Florence AL designs custom fence layouts that work around carports, detached garages, and backyard sheds that are common on older properties. We adjust heights, step the fence along slopes, and align with existing structures so the finished result looks intentional and clean.
Privacy fence installation is one of the most frequent requests we receive. Many Florence AL homeowners want to block views from nearby houses while still keeping a comfortable outdoor space in the summer heat. We talk about fence height, board spacing, and material choice so you can reduce visibility without trapping heat against your patio. Strategic gaps, taller sections in the most exposed areas, and lighter colored materials are all options we discuss during the planning phase.
Wood fence installation remains popular here because it pairs nicely with both brick ranch homes and newer craftsman-style houses. Our team recommends species and treatments that handle Florence’s mix of sun, humidity, and occasional cold snaps. Proper sealing and consistent post spacing help reduce warping and cupping that can occur when boards go from wet to very dry between seasons. We also pay attention to ground clearance so the bottom of the fence is less exposed to standing moisture after heavy rain.
Vinyl fence installation is a strong choice for homeowners who want lower maintenance in our climate. Florence AL experiences UV exposure in the summer, so we use quality vinyl that resists fading and cracking. Vinyl panels can provide full privacy around patios and pools while washing clean with simple rinsing. Because vinyl is not affected by insects or rot, it performs especially well in yards with irrigation systems or shady areas that stay damp longer.
For customers who want a custom look, we can mix materials, such as using a wood privacy fence along the back line for a natural feel, and vinyl accents or decorative tops closer to outdoor seating areas. Each design takes into account how the fence will look from both your yard and neighboring properties, which is important in closer Florence neighborhoods where backyards often touch.
Residential chain link fences and practical details for Florence AL yards
Residential chain link fences are a very practical option in Florence AL, particularly for larger side yards, rental properties, and homes that back up to open fields or wooded areas. Legendary Fence Company Florence AL installs chain link for homeowners who need secure pet areas, defined boundaries, or a cost-conscious solution that still stands up to local weather.
In our area, chain link works well because it allows full airflow and visibility, which is helpful in humid summers and in yards that tend to hold moisture. We often upgrade to coated chain link, which can be easier on the eyes and more resistant to corrosion in spots where morning dew and shade combine. For families wanting more privacy without losing airflow, we can add privacy slats in select sections, such as near patios or bedroom windows, instead of covering the entire perimeter.
We pay close attention to how Florence’s soil and weather affect chain link installations. Deeper, properly set posts are important because water can pool after heavy thunderstorms, softening the ground. By using adequate concrete and correct spacing, we reduce the risk of the fence shifting when the soil cycles between saturated and dry conditions. Tensioning the fabric correctly helps the fence stay tight and avoid sagging, which is especially important along longer property lines common around older homes.
Across all fence styles, we think about day-to-day living in Florence AL. That includes where you park, how you move lawn equipment, where kids play, and how pets use the yard. Gate placement, latch height, and swing direction are planned so you can live with your fence comfortably, not just look at it.
