Savannah homeowners trust nearby crews who know the ground they are working on
In Savannah, TN, property owners see the difference between a fence company that works here often and one that only drives in for occasional jobs. Soil along the Tennessee River corridor, older neighborhood lots near town, and newer homes built on cleared farmland each behave differently once posts go in the ground. A crew that is not local may treat all of it the same, which can lead to leaning sections, premature rot, or gates that drag after the first heavy storm.
Legendary Fence Company Florence AL works in Savannah and across Hardin County on a regular basis. We are familiar with the clay-heavy soils on some backlots, the rock pockets that show up on higher ground, and the way seasonal rain can saturate low-lying yards in late winter and early spring. That local experience shapes how we set posts, what hardware we use, and how we brace long runs so they stand straight for years, even through humid summers and sudden cold snaps.
Savannah also has a mix of home ages, from modest mid century houses with smaller yards to more recent construction around the edge of town with wide open property lines. We understand how to match new fence designs to existing layouts so you gain privacy and security without making your yard feel boxed in. When you work with a nearby company, you get crews who know what fencing styles actually look right on Savannah streets, and who understand local expectations for property lines and neighbor-friendly layouts.
Our residential fence installation standards for Savannah, TN properties
Every residential fence installation in Savannah starts with a site visit, not just a quote over the phone. We walk your property, look at how the ground slopes toward the river or toward drainage ditches, and check soil firmness by where grass grows thickest and where bare patches stay damp. This tells us how deep we need to set posts and what kind of gravel or concrete base is appropriate for that specific yard.
Legendary Fence Company Florence AL uses materials that hold up to Savannah's humid, often rainy weather. For wood fences, we recommend pressure treated lumber that resists decay in damp soil and can handle bright summer sun. For vinyl and chain link options, we choose coatings and hardware that do not corrode quickly when fog, river moisture, and pollen are present for much of the year.
Fence lines are laid out with attention to existing structures, like sheds and carports that are common on Savannah lots, and to how you actually use the yard. If you have children crossing between the house and a backyard play area, or pets that need a secure perimeter, we design gates and access points that fit your daily routine. Our installers set posts to the correct depth and spacing for the conditions on your property, then check alignment from multiple angles so the finished fence looks straight both from the street and from your back porch.
Before we leave, hinges, latches, and hardware are tested under tension because in Savannah's climate wood can swell slightly during wet periods. We make sure you can still open and close your gates smoothly without them catching or leaving gaps that pets could squeeze through.
Residential fence replacement tailored to aging Savannah yards
Many Savannah homes sit on lots that have had one or more fences in place for decades. Over time, post holes can fill with soft sediment, and older treated lumber might not meet current performance standards. When Legendary Fence Company Florence AL handles a fence replacement, we do more than pull out the old panels and put new ones in the same spots.
We start by evaluating why the existing fence failed. In some older Savannah neighborhoods, sagging sections are the result of shallow posts that were never meant to handle the strong winds that come through during storms along the river. In newer subdivisions, we often see builder-grade fences that looked fine at first but were not designed for long term exposure to humidity and heavy rain. Understanding the cause of damage lets us correct the installation, not just the appearance.
During replacement, we inspect each post location. If a hole has widened or filled with soft soil, we may relocate the post slightly or rebuild the base with compacted gravel and concrete so it can resist future shifting. Where tree roots have grown into the fence line, common in Savannah yards with mature shade trees, we adjust layouts carefully to preserve the tree while still giving you a straight, functional boundary.
We also take care to protect lawns and garden beds, which are often close to property edges in town. Debris from the old fence is removed so nails and splinters do not stay behind in the grass. By the time a replacement is complete, you receive a fence that is stronger than what was there before, built to match Savannah's current conditions rather than the assumptions of decades past.
Repairing residential fences after storms, soil movement, and daily wear
Savannah residents know that one strong thunderstorm can tilt a weak fence line. High winds rolling along the river valley, saturated ground after days of rain, and sudden temperature changes can all expose weak points. Legendary Fence Company Florence AL offers focused residential fence repair that addresses these specific local stressors.
When we arrive for a repair, we look beyond the obvious broken panel. If a section leans after a storm, it might be due to a hidden pocket of soft soil that formed near a downspout or low area where water collects. Instead of just bracing the visible damage, we reinforce or reset posts in the affected area, rebuilding the base to handle future wet seasons. This approach prevents repeat failures each time Savannah experiences heavy rain.
Wood fences often show wear first where sprinkler overspray or standing moisture against the bottom rail speeds up decay. We identify which boards or rails can be salvaged and which must be replaced to keep the structure sound. For vinyl and chain link fences, we tighten or replace hardware, straighten bent posts, and correct tension so the fence works as a reliable barrier for pets and children.
Our goal is to restore function and extend fence life, not push you into a full replacement before it is truly needed. You get clear recommendations based on what we see in the soil and structure, informed by years working on properties that face the same Savannah climate as yours.
Custom privacy, wood, vinyl, and chain link designs that fit Savannah lots
Savannah, TN has a variety of lot sizes. Some homeowners want a secluded backyard retreat, while others need a simple, durable enclosure for dogs and outdoor equipment. Legendary Fence Company Florence AL offers custom residential fence solutions so your project fits both your property and your lifestyle.
Privacy fence installation is popular in areas where houses sit closer together. We design fence heights and layouts that shield patios and back doors from direct view, while keeping the yard usable and open to breezes that help during humid summer evenings. For wood privacy fences, we discuss board orientation and spacing to encourage air flow and reduce warping, important where warm days and cool nights are common.
Wood fence installation remains a classic choice around Savannah because it blends well with established trees and gardens. We take into account how sunlight moves across your yard, since sections in constant shade may need different finish or maintenance planning than those in full sun. Our custom designs can include decorative tops or patterns that match the style of your home, whether you have a brick exterior or siding.
Vinyl fence installation appeals to homeowners who want lower maintenance in a climate that can be hard on paint and stain. The vinyl products we install are selected for color stability under strong summer sun and are easy to rinse clean when pollen coats surfaces in spring.
Residential chain link fences are practical where function matters most, such as side yards used for storage, or larger backyards where pets need room to run. We install coated chain link that resists rust and blends better with grass and landscaping than bare metal, so you get durability suitable for Savannah's weather along with a cleaner look.
